CSR Black Sea NetworkOn 21 December 2012, in Istanbul, on behalf of Carpatcement Holding S.A. and with the participation of our partner, Dr. Simona Marinescu, Director of the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) – UNDP global center for inclusive business and development partnerships, The CSR Agency took part at the CSR Marketplace 2012 competition.

With the occasion of this event, Carpatcement Holding, one of our clients, was awarded with the Alternative Energy – CSR Black Sea Award (for its Alternative Fuels Program), and The CSR Agency became a founding member of the CSR Black Sea Network. In Istanbul, one NGO and one company from each country had a stand to present their organizations and good CSR practices. A roundtable meeting was held to share experiences about CSR and how CSR Black Sea could improve, expand and be an umbrella CSR initiative in the region.

Supported by German Marshall Fund Black Sea Trust, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Black Sea Network is an initiative designed to promote CSR and to create a new area of cooperation toward a sustainable development of Black Sea
Region in the long term. Black Sea CSR initiative offers a new collaboration between Black Sea countries on CSR where it calls the CSR Organizations and the private sector who is interested in CSR in the region to come together, share and transfer good CSR practices and ideas.

Beside The CSR Agency from Romania, the other founding members of the Network are: Armenia Marketing Association, CSR Azerbaijan, CSR Armenia, CSR Ukraine, Economic Policy Institute – Bulgaria, Global Compact Network Bulgaria, and CSR Turkey, the latter one being the driving force behind the future CSR Black Sea Website, one of the outcomes of the project.

The other outcome will be the CSR Black Sea Catalogue, as the annual event CSR Marketplace 2012 that already took place on 21st December 2012 will become a regular gathering event of the Network.

The motivation for this project resides in the fact that the regions are important for CSR networks as the countries have quite similar economic, social and environmental challenges where they can benefit from their own experience and know-how. In the long term, these networks play an important role for the sustainable development of the regions. Thus bring the idea of the initiative CSR Black Sea, where the region has a very good potential and resources to develop innovative collaborative projects supported by companies operating in this region, like is Carpatcement Holding for example.
