About SABMiller PLC:

SABMiller is one of the world’s largest brewers with more than 200 beer brands, around 70,000 employees from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and operations across six continents. In the year 2011 financial year, SABMiller sold 218 million hectolitres of lager and delivered revenues of US$28,311 million. The Group is also one of the largest bottlers of Coca-Cola products. SABMiller’s vision is to be the most admired company in the global beer industry, and the Group maintains that sustainable development (SD) is integral to the way it does business.

SABMiller’s sustainable development strategy is underpinned by ten priorities which are viewed as the Group’s material issues. These are further categorized into global focus areas (alcohol responsibility, water, enterprise development in its value chains); regional focus areas (energy/carbon, HIV/AIDS, Corporate Social Investment) and continual improvement (human rights, waste, transparency and ethics, packaging). Flexibility is built into the approach to ensure that local businesses can still focus their resources on the issues that are most relevant in their markets.

In 2011, SABMiller received the “Relevance & Materiality” Award at the CR Reporting Awards 2011 from CorporateRegister.com
